Microblading: Selecting the Right Color & Shape

Brows have the capacity to make or break a face. The shape and color should complement your features, length or width of the face as well as your hair color and skin tone.

How To Find The Right Eyebrows For Your Face Shape

If you have a round face…

Best eyebrow shape: A high arch is recommended to make the face appear less broad. More height in the arch will give more length to the face and open the eyes.

What to avoid: Stay away from a rounded brow shape.

Celebrities working it: Kelly Clarkson, Adele

If you have a heart-shaped face…

Best eyebrow shape: A low arch rounded brow. Softer curvier, lines will complement the roundness of the top of the face.

What to avoid: A high arch, as it is too dramatic for the chin.

Celebrity working it: Reese Witherspoon

If you have a square face…

Best eyebrow shape: A square jaw is a strong feature, balance it with a well-defined strong brow but soften the lines by blending.

What to avoid: A barely there brow line. You will need to create some attention in the top half of the face to avoid the strength in the jaw line.

Celebrity working it: Keira Knightley

If you have an oval face…

Best eyebrow shape: A soft angled eyebrow shape as it will not deter from the harmony that is already at play here.

What to avoid: Any dramatic changes. No high arches or flattened out elongated brows. Accept that this face shape is a blessing and you don’t need to mess with it.

Celebrity working it: Kate Middleton

If you have a long face…

Best eyebrow shape: A flatter elongated shape or ‘straight brow’. This will widen the face and make the face appear less long.

What to avoid: A high arch, as it will create even more length in the face.

Celebrity working it: Sarah Jessica Parker

How do you know what shape to go for? Should you bring pictures?

Clients are welcome, and encouraged to bring in images of the style of brow they like, or to come in with the brow make up they normally wear on a day to day basis – and our artist will work with assist you in determining the appropriate shape to use.

Get the Right Shape…

Our artist measures up your eyebrows using a Microblading Ruler to choose the perfect shape of brow which is individual to each client. Based on this, Our artist will freehand the final shape.

Microblading, and specifically Nanoblading definitely has its advantages over traditional eyebrow tattooing, but it’s still so important to find a top Columbus OH microblading artist. Because like tattooing, microblading is an art and requires an artist behind the microblade.

Get the Right Color…

Clients come in and tend to want a color darker than we would suggest, but it is always better to go a little more natural – you can always go darker during the touch-up session, but you cannot go lighter.

Our artist will look at your hair color, eye color and skin tone using the Fitzpatrick Chart, which also takes into account how your skin will change with sun exposure etc., to ensure the correct color pigment choice.

Clients can sometimes leave other microblading studios, and two days later be terrified that their brows are too dark, due to the artists failure to advise them to expect this, and to discuss the microblading healing process! After 7-10 days, you will begin to see the final coloring.

It is very important to know and understand that brows will be up to 40% darker in shade for the first 7-10 days during the healing process where scabs can form and flake off.

Can microbladed eyebrows be undone/removed?

Yes – the pigment used leaves no scarring or discoloration, and we can use a salt/saline solution to remove microbladed brows during the procedure.

If miss this during the procedure or simply elect to wait there’s a high probability that if you don’t increase the depth of the stroke that you don’t like, it might actually just fade out in the healing process. It’s best to let it fade as much as possible. Then you can go back in and neutralize it with a pigment matching your skin color to make the stroke disappear. We don’t recommend this removal method on large areas, but certainly to refine a few strokes or something about the shape, correctional work can be done.
