What we offer

What we offer is a personalized, systems-oriented model that empowers our clients to achieve the highest expression of health. We don’t use drugs or pharmaceutical agents to artificially control bodily functions in an effort to mask symptoms. Rather, our natural therapies seek to identify and treat the underlying causes and conditions of your health complaints, supporting core systems thereby restoring balance and allowing the body to heal, and return to normal function. This means spending time with you to understand the complex interactions between diet, lifestyle, genetic, and environmental factors that impact long-term health or chronic dysfunction. Based on the concepts of genetic and environmental uniqueness, and an understanding of the inherent individuality of each person allows for a tailored approach and treatment for the person, not the symptoms.

Nourish Balance Thrive is the perfect blend of expert dietary advice and one-on-one consultative planning, comprehensive testing and a labs-based supplementation plan all uniquely tailored to your health challenges and lifestyle. The program is about YOU – your body, your diet, your goals.

What might your life be like if you were to realize and express your optimal potential?

Success stories

Does any of this sound like you?

On aging & appearance, digestive problems, blood sugar imbalances, food allergies / sensitivities:

“I look (and/or feel) older than I am”

“Why do I have these hair (and/or skin) problems”

“I eat healthy (and exercise) but I can’t seem to lose (or gain) weight…”

“Why am I constantly hungry?”

“I’m generally lean. It’s the belly fat I can’t get rid of…”

“I’ve noticed I just don’t feel right after eating certain foods…”

“I frequently experience gas, bloating and general discomfort after meals”

“I’ve seen multiple specialists who have run numerous tests and they all tell me nothing is wrong but I know it’s not”

On fatigue, headaches / brain fog, hormonal fluctuations or libido:

“I want to enjoy life like I use to…”

“I don’t have the energy to be the mom/wife I want to be”

“I’m tired during the day, but have energy and can’t get to sleep at night…”

“I have trouble sleeping through the night…”

“I have trouble concentrating and a lack of focus and mental clarity. I’m often forgetful…”

“I’m attracted to, and love my husband/wife, I’m just to tired or not in the mood…”

“I’m always cold…”

Has a doctor told you:

“You’re just getting older.”

Despite what you’ve been told it’s unlikely what you’re experiencing is “just a symptom of aging”…

THE PROBLEM is conventional healthcare, i.e. traditional western medicine isn’t designed to address the ‘cause’– it’s simply firefighting the effects (in this case the symptoms you are experiencing) with it’s ‘take this to treat that’ model. By definition traditional western medicine is – a system in which medical doctors and other healthcare professionals (such as nurses, pharmacists, and therapists) treat symptoms and diseases using drugs, radiation, or surgery

Symptoms aren’t only functional-medicineFAR easier to identify, but in many instances patients actually prefer the quick and easy fix… a pill for their ill.

The problem is, the symptoms you are experiencing are your bodies way of telling you something is wrong. Disease occurs because of the degradation, breakdown or loss of a normal body function, or due to an external influence that creates some type of overwhelming stress on the body. Thus, if that normal function or external influence is fully understood, properly identified and effectively treated, good health can be restored.

Symptom suppressing drugs allow the underlying condition to progress, and your health to further deteriorate. While palliative care is important, if that’s all that is provided you may weaken and soon you’ll need stronger and/or additional medications. Eventually, surgery may become necessary. Fortunately, there is an alternative.

THE SOLUTION We call our expert-led program Nourish Balance Thrive™, and rather than focusing on symptoms, we focus on identifying and treating the root cause(s) of your health problem(s).

Get 1-on-1 support and advice from dedicated holistic healthcare professionals (including Functional Practitioners and Nutritionists), who will not only work with you to restore your health and improve your quality of life, but help you achieve optimal wellness. For us, the goal is not just an “absence of disease”, but lifelong optimal health.

Understand that Traditional Western Medicine and the doctors who practice it are the best in the world at dealing with acute care and trauma. But when uncovering hidden dysfunction, resolving chronic illness, or taking a proactive role to improve and maintain long-term health, a functional approach is much more suitable. With this in mind, Nourish Balance Thrive™ strategies act to complement and support traditional Western medicine and not as an alternative.

The 7 Keys to Optimal Wellness

Simply put, when your core systems are out of balance, they make fertile ground for the roots of illness. When they are in balance, they become the keys to creating wellness and vitality:

  1. Environmental Inputs (diet, lifestyle, toxins, stress and trauma)
  2. Inflammation and Immune Balance (the hidden fire within)
  3. Hormone and Neurotransmitter Balance (insulin, thyroid, adrenal balance; sex hormones and mood chemicals)
  4. Gut and Digestive Health (digestion, absorption, assimilation, intestinal ecosystem and the gut-immune system)
  5. Detoxification Imbalances and Function (getting rid of wastes and dealing with toxins)
  6. Creating Energy (antioxidant balance and mitochondrial function — the source of life energy and metabolism)
  7. Mind-Body/Body-Mind Connection (change your mind, change your body; change your body, change your mind)

Nourish Balance Thrive: Your 3-step journey to health

Identify Underlying Issues & Optimize Your Diet…

Our holistic approach to wellness starts with addressing the underlying issues, including your diet, stress levels, sleep and level of physical activity.

This will include important changes to how, when and what you eat to improve your health.

Our Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist will help you customize a real food diet designed to nourish your body, improve detoxification and help your body heal.

This diet plan will cater to your unique needs, including any food sensitivities / allergies, and lifestyle. Your plan will be adjusted as your body begins to heal and your symptoms gradually dissipate.

Healthy eating is not about strict dietary limitations, staying unrealistically thin, or depriving yourself of the foods you love. Rather, it’s about feeling great, having more energy, improving your health, and stabilizing your mood.

Testing…

Balancing one’s health requires attention to your: diet, stress, sleep, gut health, and hormones.

Testing allows us to identify the root causes holding you back including: nutrient deficiencies, adrenal fatigue, circadian rhythm dysregulation, cortisol and hormone imbalances, gut dysbiosis and an imbalance of the beneficial microbiota in your gastrointestinal tract, yeast overgrowth and / or intestinal parasites, mitochondrial dysfunction, etc.

Functional lab testing is crucial to identifying the route cause of underlying health issues. When it comes to your health, we test to assess… we don’t guess.

Creation & implementation of your custom plan…

Analyzing your test results will allow us to create a personalized wellness program to maximize your performance.

Achieving and maintaining optimal health is not a quondam event, rather it’s a lifestyle and requires a commitment. That said, it doesn’t have to be difficult or restrictive and once you’ve alleviated your symptoms you’ll decide how strictly you wish to adhere to the program.

We’ll support you through your program as well as your continued wellness by teaching you how to manage your health and keep you up to date with the latest developments in health and nutritional science.

What can you expect from our Nourish Balance Thrive Program?

Every program is unique, because it’s tailored specifically to YOU and your bodies needs – but here are some of the things which may be a part of your personal program…

1  An in-depth consultation – so we can fully assess your situation, the underlying symptoms you are experiencing, your family history and health background, as well as your health goals and how far you are willing to go to resolve these issues.
Formulate your custom testing plan – using the results of your initial consultation we will seek to identify the most probable causes of your health issue(s). We will then formulate a custom testing plan to test these assumptions and to confirm a diagnosis.

These tests are used to determine your nutritional status, digestive function, hormonal status, hidden food sensitivities, detoxification ability and ultimately the root cause(s) of your personal health issue(s).

Food Sensitivity testing – provides us with a list of foods your immune system is reacting to. Food and food-chemical sensitivities are one of the key sources of inflammation and symptoms across a wide range of chronic inflammatory conditions. Reactions can delayed by as many as 3-4 days and any food can trigger an inflammatory response. The key is to determine which specific foods and food-chemicals are triggering adverse reactions for you. This is the foundation for designing an eating plan that will produce the maximum clinical benefit. Read more on Food Sensitivities, Allergies and Intolerances
7  DUTCH testing – to reveal your hormonal status, this test allows us to design your personal adrenal and hormone support protocol. Hormones fluctuate throughout the day and DUTCH testing provides the most complete and accurate picture of your hormonal status while effectively replacing multiple testing methods.
9  Stool testing – to reveal the health and function of your gut, evaluate your microbiota and levels of healthy gut flora (bacteria balances and imbalances), detect any hidden chronic infections (the leading cause of fatigue) and / or pathogens, inflammation, immune function, and short chain fatty acid status.
11  Oral Glucose Tolerance test –  may be done if it is thought your body doesn’t control glucose levels normally, but not badly enough to be labeled diabetes.
13  Toxic Metal testing – toxic metals adversely affect virtually every organ system, disrupt the balance of nutrient elements, and can be a root cause of many underlying health conditions including: fatigue, hypothyroid, autoimmune disease, hypertension, dementia, autism, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s Disease.
2  Nutrition coaching – with our Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutritionist (FDN) to quickly dial in your initial custom food plan. Your food plan will be formulated based on your symptoms and the objectives of your program.
Nutrient Deficiency testing – so we can determine what vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants and other essential micronutrients you are deficient in. This allows us to design your custom supplementation and nutrient replacement program. A deficiency in any single nutrient can produce a host of adverse effects. Nutrient deficiencies can alter brain function, hormone production, hair, skin, nails, metabolism, energy, immune function and overall health.
6  Testing for Increased Intestinal Permeability (or Leaky Gut) – health begins in your gut and a large portion of your immune system actually resides within your gut (about 75–80 percent). When your gut is healthy it remains sealed carefully allowing digested food particles and nutrients into the body while keeping toxins and waste within the digestive tract where they are then excreted from the body. When the gut is leaky this can lead to numerous and widespread health problems. Read more on Increased Intestinal Permeability / Leaky Gut
8  Organic Acids testing – offers  comprehensive metabolic snapshot of a person’s overall health. It’s a simple urine test that looks at biomarkers from various metabolic pathways in order to evaluate four critical areas of metabolism: gastrointestinal function, oxidative stress, cellular and mitochondrial energy production, neurotransmitter processing, and amino acid / organic acid balance as influenced by vitamin and mineral levels. The results further help us design your custom nutrient replacement program.
10  Blood testing – a blood test is essentially a blue print of your health and can tell us how well your kidneys and liver are functioning, your potential for heart disease and diabetes, thyroid function, the strength of your immune system, the chemical profile of your blood, and many other important factors about the state of your health. We will use this information to reinforce the diagnosis and rule out others, check the bodies function, test for inflammation, and track your progress.
12  Genetic testing – a simple saliva test is an inexpensive testing method to diagnosis and assess your genetic vulnerabilities to inherited diseases, confirm or rule out a suspected genetic mutation such as MTHFR, APOE4 and BRCA and can help determine a person’s chance of developing or passing on a genetic disorder.
14  Review the Results, Identify the Problems, Formulate & Implement the Treatment – your test results tell us what your body is doing right, and where it is falling short (impairments and impediments) while helping us to identify any ongoing physiological processes (mediators) that may be contributing to your condition. Once the problems have been identified, the next step is to formulate and implement the treatment plan to address them. Rest assured that we will diagnose your issue(s) and assist you in taking the steps to regain your health and vitality.

How is our program different?

Conventional care separates practitioners based on their specialties (e.g., neurology, gynecology, gastrointestinal, endocrinology), arranging medical care into separate and distinct disciplines thereby failing to see the body as an interconnected whole in which systems work together and influence each other. Nourish Balance Thrive is holistic, in that one clinician looks at all aspects of the client, as opposed to indicating, “That sounds like a hormone problem. That’s not my department.” before charging you for the visit and passing you off to “specialist” who in most instances is selected simply because they are employed by the same hospital / health group, or share some other mutual affiliation (such as a referral-development consultant).

While some conditions do require a referral to an outside specialist. Our partner network consists of an elite group of medical specialists selected based exclusively on their medical bona fides — they are board-certified, at the forefront of their fields and up on the latest research, skilled in the most advanced techniques and boast an impressive track record of healing. These practitioners share our beliefs as well as our approach and serve as an extension of, and are complimentary to the care we provide.

Our program is highly cost effective as it focuses on health promoting lifestyle changes and utilizes treatments that address the causes of dysfunction, thereby restoring clients to health while providing them with the knowledge and tools required to sustain it. It is also preventative, as it goes beyond any issues you may presently be experiencing, and is designed to help you maximize your health and improve your chances of avoiding illness and disease in the future.

Our approach to health and wellness is a simple one involving two fundamental principles.

1.  Add what is lacking in the body to aid its physiology back to a state of optimal functioning.
2.  Remove anything that impairs the body from moving toward this optimal state of physiology.

The aforementioned advanced laboratory testing allows us to identify deficiencies and imbalances. For treatment, clients can expect a combination of natural agents (supplements, herbs, nutraceuticals, phytonutrients), clinical nutrition programs, advice on lifestyle changes, and spiritual/emotional counseling. Education is emphasized in order to empower clients to take charge of their own health and understand their role in the healing process.

Every person is different. Age, weight, genetics, environment, fitness and longevity goals all vary dramatically for each of us. So every person’s path to health and wellness is unique and must be customized.

Let us help you define your starting point with a comprehensive wellness assessment not offered anywhere else. From there, we will develop a customized wellness plan to address your specific needs and goals. The result is you are happy, well, and in control of your own health.
