Custom Styling
PLEIJ Salon promises to deliver to each individual client the best Eye Lash Extension experience: First, a consultation between the client and our Lash stylist in order to assess the distinctive eye shape, the quality of the natural lashes and the skin tone.
Various lengths, curvatures and widths of lashes are carefully selected to create each custom set of lashes. Our stylists are highly trained and meticulous in ensuring exact symmetry with every applied lash, crisscross lash application is not tolerated. The adhesive used is medical grade and FDA approved.
A lash lift is basically a perm that provides up to 8 weeks of lift and curl to your lashes without having to mess with tools, curling wands, and false lashes. One of biggest pros of eyelash extensions is you never have to wear mascara ever again. Lashes make your eyes pop, and actually help breath life into an otherwise tired face. Some women even say that they’re more inclined to take an all-natural approach with their makeup when they have extensions because the feel so confident with long, full lashes..
Every treatment starts with a consultation to determine what lash style you’re looking to achieve. The level of curl is customizable and based on your answers, your esthetician will then pick a suitable curling pad size to shape the lashes.
The effects are semi-permanent so you’ll need to get the procedure done again after a few months in order to maintain results.

EYELASH EXTENSION FAQs
Eyelash extensions are individual, synthetic silk eyelashes that are applied individually to your natural eyelashes with a medical grade adhesive. This means that each of your eyelashes will have one eyelash extension attached. This ensures that your natural lashes are treated properly and remain healthy.
Our lashes are designed to last as long as your natural lashes. When your lashes naturally shed, our synthetic lash goes with them. Your skin care regimen, workout schedule, sleeping habits and other lifestyle factors may change how often you need a fill. To keep your lashes full, fresh and in tip-top shape, we recommend receiving a fill treatment every 2-3 weeks.
Our lash artist will review aftercare instructions with you and suggest products that will help maintain your new eyelashes. Constantly rubbing your eyes or cleaning them vigorously will certainly decrease their longevity. Do not use any oil containing cleansers or waterproof mascara.
Eyelash Lift & Tint MAY NOT be suitable for clients that:
- Have very little natural eyelashes or have nothing. The gaps between your lashes will be more noticeable
- Have pre-existing eye(lid) conditions such as chronic dry eye, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and ocular rosacea
- Lasik surgery (wait a minimum of 6 months from your procedure)
- Have Trichotillomania (compulsive pulling or twisting hair, eyebrows and eyelashes)
- Have very sensitive eyes or possible allergies to adhesive (recommended to book an appointment for a patch test)
- Who are rough with their lashes
- Undergoing chemo treatments or have had chemo treatments within the past year (recommend to consult with your physician)
- Are sensitive or have allergies to dyes (recommended to book an appointment for a patch test)
- Had blepharoplasty surgery (must wait a minimum of 1 year after your surgery)
Avoid getting your lashes wet (or applying mascara) for 24 hours post session to allow the adhesive to dry completely. For additional information on the care and maintenance see Eyelash Extensions For Beginners.
A full application will take between 1.5 to 2 hours. Although the service takes some time, the results are definitely worth it. Eyelash Extension Refills take 45 minutes to an hour.
Generally you will receive 30-60 or more extensions per eye depending on the number of natural lashes you have to attach to and the desired fullness. The result is long, beautiful, and natural looking extensions.
Your skin care regimen, workout schedule, sleeping habits and other lifestyle factors may change how often you need a lash refill. To keep your lashes full, fresh and in tip-top shape, we recommend receiving a fill treatment every 2-3 weeks.
We don’t recommend using mascara with lash extensions, even the so call “extension-safe” mascaras. When you attempt to take these products off, you can actually cause your extensions to break from the friction and makeup remover. You just splurged on lashes—don’t jeopardize them!
Also stay away from waterproof eye makeup; removing it will break down the lash glue. We also recommend avoiding loose powder or glittery eyeshadows, which can build up on the roots of your lashes, eventually weakening them and leading to breakage. And if you’re devoted to liner (though you may find you no longer want it), stick to gel and liquid formulas that won’t tug at your roots.
Not if the eyelash extensions are applied properly, but remember your natural lashes do shed every 30-120 days. Our lash artists are trained in properly applying and removing eyelash extensions.
That said, long-term usage will cause wear and tear to your natural lashes. To keep your lashes as healthy as possible it’s best to give your lashes a break from eyelash extensions every few months. We also recommend applying a nightly lash oil such as CompleteLash® Accelerator with nourishing ingredients to strengthen and promote lash growth.
Gently, using mild products. Always wait 24 hours to do this, straight after the procedure.

Like any cosmetic treatment, eyelash extensions aren’t without risk. There are some potential side effects to consider — which can be made worse if you don’t work with an experienced technician who specializes in treatments around the eyes, including lash lifts. lash extensions, tinting, and/or brow shaping.
Skin irritation is perhaps the greatest risk of the procedure. While protective pads are placed along your lash line to prevent the keratin glue from getting on your skin, this method isn’t completely foolproof.
You might also be more prone to irritation due to the chemicals contained in the solution if you have a history of dry eye, allergies, and eye or skin sensitivities.
Potential side effects from the solution include:
• irritation and redness
• inflammation
• dry eye
• allergic reaction (the glues used in some lash adhesives contain formaldehyde, which can cause a severe allergic reaction. Formaldehyde is also a known carcinogen. It’s best to choose a salon that uses glues made with butyl cyanoacrylate and octyl cyanoacrylate instead of formaldehyde—they are much healthier options.)
Aside from the solution itself causing irritation, working with an inexperienced practitioner can also increase your risk of side effects during the application process.
APPOINTMENT PREP & AFTERCARE
Do not consume any caffeinated beverages before your appointment. Caffeine can cause your eyes to flutter during your procedure. Please plan to arrive 10 minute prior to your appointment time to update all necessary consultation forms and prepare for your procedure to begin on time. Please make sure to arrive without contacts, concealer, eye makeup (mascara, eyeliner, eyeshadow, eyecream, etc. For best results we recommend avoiding waterproof eye makeup for a week prior to your appointment.) on the day of your appointment. avoid curling your natural lashes with a lash curler for 24 hours prior to your appointment. Makeup removal will result in time being taken from lashing and a removal fee of $25 will be added to the service.
If you want a more dramatic result, then going on something like a lash serum to grow your lashes as long as possible is a great option (we recommend CompleteLash® Triple Action Lash Accelerator), however, we can work with any lash type.
If you’re using a lash growth serum, be sure to let the salon know.
DO
USE A LASH SERUM. It’s recommended to use a lash serum to help your lashes grow longer and strong. This will help give you amazing looking lashes
SLEEP ON YOUR BACK You must sleep on your back with eyelash extensions, if you sleep on your side, or stomach you’re going to crush them and they won’t last long.
BRUSH YOUR LASH EXTENSIONS Lashes get tangled when you’re sleeping and showering, so it’s required that you gently brush your lashes with a clean spoolie brush when you wake up, after you shower, and at the end of the day.
DON’T
DO NOT WET your lashes for 24 hours after the appointment
AVOID ANYTHING OILY as this can break down the lash glue
DO NOT PULL your lashes. This can cause your natural lashes to fall out prematurely and cause both breakage and permanent damage to the hair follicle

NATURAL LASH GROWTH CYCLE
Eyelashes go through a three-phase growth cycle. Long, thick eyelashes are touted as one of the most desirable features a person can have. Thousands of products are sold to enhance the look of lashes from mascara to lash conditioner to lash extensions. So, when you wake up in the morning and notice and eyelash or two that have fallen out and are resting on your cheeks, it can be a little unsettling. It’s important to understand that this is a normal process, like every other hair on your body, eyelashes are perpetually moving through a natural growth cycle.
Eyelashes aren’t just a pretty feature on the body; they have a very specific and important function. Eyelashes are designed to prevent objects from getting in the eyes. Each eyelash is actually a sensory hair that reflexively shuts the eyelid whenever it is touched by dirt, dust or anything else that could possibly get in the eye. The upper lid typically has about 90-150 lashes on it, while the bottom lashes have between 70-80 lashes. Most eyelashes grow to be 10mm long just 3/8 inch.
Although it may not seem like it, hair growth is a preset function of the body. Every hair on your body follows a three-phase growth cycle and eventually falls out, which is typically nothing to worry about.
ANAGEN (GROWTH) PHASE
The anagen phase is also called the growth phase. This is the phase when lashes are actively growing. It can last between 30-45 days. Only about 40% of the upper lashes and 15% of the lower lashes are in the anagen phase at any one time. Each will grow to a specific length and then stop.
CATAGEN (TRANSITION) PHASE
The catagen phase is also known as the transition phase. During this phase, the lash stops growing and the hair follicle shrinks. If an eyelash falls out or is plucked during this phase, won’t grow back right away because the follicle needs to complete the cartagen phase before it can move on to the next one. This phase lasts between two and three weeks.
TELOGEN (RESTING) PHASE
The telogen phase is also referred to as the resting phase. This can last more than 100 days before the eyelash falls out and a new one begins to grow. Each individual lash is in its own phase of the growing cycle, its normal for a few lashes to fall out most days. It typically takes between four to eight weeks to full replace and eyelash.
