Air Multiplier™ technology projects a jet of high-velocity air, angled at 20°. This entrains surrounding air, multiplying the airflow threefold whilst keeping the jet smooth and controlled.

The Dyson V9 digital motor

The V9 digital motor is Dyson fastest yet. Uniquely positioned in the handle, it spins on average 6 times faster than other hair dryer motors at one inaudible frequency – yet is a third of the weight.1 Milled to a tolerance of 15 microns, its 13 blade impeller generates 3.5kPa of pressure, propelling 13 litres of air up to the amplifier every second.

Intelligent heat control

Thermal sensor measures exit flow temperature 20 times per second and transmits data to the machine’s microprocessor which intelligently controls the heating element. So temperature is kept under control to help prevent extreme heat damage.

Damaged hair scatters light, leaving it dull 

When hair is exposed to extreme temperatures, pores can begin to form within the strands. When light hits these pores, it scatters in all directions. This can reduce reflected light, decreasing shine.

Hair that’s less damaged is better at reflecting light, making it shine 

The Dyson Supersonic hair dryer uses intelligent heat control to maintain optimum temperature, helping to prevent extreme heat damage. Less damaged hair reflects light in a single direct, making the hair appear shiny.

Engineered to keep temperatures below 302°F.  

Only after five years of hair research could Dyson develop Intelligent Heat Control. By constantly maintaining temperatures below 302°F, it helps protect hair from extreme heat damage.

Vibration reduction mount 

A rubber mount helps to prevent the motor from vibrating against the inside of the handle, reducing the transfer of noise between the motor and the case.

One inaudible frequency

The Dyson V9 digital motor spins at up to 110,000 times a minute, with one inaudible frequency.
