What are Keratin Smoothing Treatments?
Keratin treatments are semi-permanent hair straightening treatments that smooth and add shine to frizzy hair, while keeping freshly-colored hair vibrant. Keratin is a structural protein found in our hair, skin, and nails. It’s also commonly found in styling products to help strengthen hair—but the term keratin treatment is actually a misnomer.
How the treatments work is not through the use of keratin, but rather to make hair straighter, a solution containing glyoxylic acid is worked through the hair to change the curl pattern and reseal the hair in a straighter position. The solution is then blow-dried and sealed with a flat iron locking the hair into this straighter position for anywhere from three to six months. Blonde Smoothing Treatment
Blondes often need more love for their hair—and we’ve got just that. Our Ultimate Blonde Keratin Smoothing Treatment is formulated specially with blondes in mind, using blue-violet pigment to remove brassy shades while smoothing and glossing damaged hair.
You’ll want to plan on being at your appointment for about two to three hours when you book the Ultimate Blonde Treatment. The hair is shampooed and dried. Your stylist will then they let it process for 30 minutes. Once the treatment fully processes, your stylist rinses your hair, and then they blow-dry and flatiron it to fully seal in the treatment. Then you’ll be on your way with healthy, strong, shiny blonde hair for up to five months.
Yes. the formula contains blue-violet pigments that tones the hair while keeping blonde hair healthy with our natural keratin smoothing treatment. This formula is essentially, two products one, reducing the service time by eliminating the need to apply a toner to your hair before or after they apply the keratin smoothing treatment. This toning process gives you cool blonde tones while the keratin treatment helps undo any damage that lightening and color treatments may have caused.

Lets Talk Ingredients
The words “keratin smoothing treatment” are often tossed about when referring to traditional smoothing treatments. However, the word “keratin” is somewhat of a misnomer, as keratin is not the actual ingredient that smooths the hair. Keratin is certainly one of the ingredients we use, but it’s only one of the three parts we need to smooth your hair completely. Keratin is the strong protein in skin, hair, and nails that heals and protects. Think of it as sealing the treatment in to complete the process.
Glycolic acid is a popular anti-aging ingredient that has been recognized for many years. Safe for the stylist and client, glycolic acid fully penetrates the hair shaft, enhancing softness, improving manageability, preventing breakage and protecting from heat.
Sericin is a natural protein produced by the silkworm, Bombyx Mori. In silk, sericin acts as cement between filaments of fibroin. Sericin possesses a high affinity for the keratin in the hair. The protein acts as cement between reticulated proteins, sealing in moisture, adding luster, protecting bonds and locking hair into a smoother, straighter form. There is no other smoothing product in the world that uses sericin in the way it’s used in our smoothing treatments.
Formaldehyde. Wait, there’s formaldehyde in most keratin treatments? Sure is. So, what exactly is formaldehyde and why is it so bad?
Scientifically speaking, formaldehyde is a chemical compound of hydrogen, oxygen and carbon. Health-wise, it’s a dangerous carcinogenic chemical that can sometimes be listed on a product label as other names such as: formalin, formic aldehyde, methanediol, methanal, methyl aldehyde, methylene glycol or methylene oxide. Formaldehyde is a colorless, strong-smelling chemical that can cause skin and eye irritation and can be absorbed through the skin. Long-term exposure to formaldehyde can have severely damaging effects on your health. Even limited exposure can lead to watery eyes, burning sensations, coughing, wheezing and skin irritation—not to mention the harm it does to the environment, too. In the case of many other keratin treatments, formaldehyde releases toxic chemicals into the air when heat is applied, making it not only bad for you, but those around you, the air and the planet, too.
