SMOOTH, VOLUMINOUS, MORE YOUTHFUL SKIN
Minimally invasive and quick, our facial fillers can do much more than just treat wrinkles
Dermal Fillers are a minimally invasive way to achieving smooth, voluminous, more youthful skin. Also referred to as facial fillers or injectables, they serve as a nonsurgical option to add fullness, softening lines and creases, but they can also add volume to thin lips, sculpt the jawline, add projection to a weak chin, fill in the under-eye hollows and shallow areas of the face including the cheeks and temples, as well as improve the appearance of scars including those caused by acne. Our fillers are designed to treat dynamic wrinkles and creases while adapting to your facial movements, for results that not only look, but feel natural – at rest and in motion.
Dermal Fillers are among many therapeutic choices we offer at PLEIJ Salon + Spa and which you can discuss with our Med Spa aesthetic experts. Depending on the health and condition of your skin, as well as your goals, we can discuss single and combined procedures that produce dramatic results.
How Fillers Can Address Your Facial Concerns
Age, lifestyle habits, as well as skin conditions and genetics can cause subtle and not-so-subtle changes to your face. Facial skin stretches, thins and changes over time. Your face can also lose some of the fat just beneath the surface of the skin. As a result, lines caused by facial muscles that perform repeated functions — such as frowning, laughing and smiling — become more visible. Smile lines, crow’s feet and furrowed brows appear, and skin can take on a hollow or sunken appearance.
Injectable fillers can diminish some of these unwelcome effects. We use fine needles to strategically deliver dermal fillers, which are medical-grade solutions that plump up problem areas. Facial fillers add fullness and volume to give your face a younger, healthier look.
Facial Filler Can Be Used To:
• Add volume to sagging skin
• Make your facial features more symmetrical
• Add fullness to lips and cheeks
• Fill in shallow area of the face
• Diminish lines, creases and wrinkles
• Improve the appearance of recessed scars
• Reduce the shadow effect of lower eyelids
• Enhance facial contours and jawline
• Restore damaged tissues and features after illness or injury
• Treat facial wasting related to GLP-1 weight loss drugs
Because the effects of dermal fillers eventually fade, we’ll discuss routine touch-up appointments to get and maintain your new look.

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural substance found in your body’s connective soft tissues. It’s also used to provide cushioning and pain relief for arthritic joints. In addition to Restylane, brands of HA-based products include Captique, Hylaform, Juvéderm, Puragen and many others.
HA can improve contour and reduce skin depressions caused by scars, injury or lines such as crow’s feet, frown lines and laugh lines. HA can be used to redefine lip borders and treat vertical smoker’s lines on lips.

This non-toxic, biodegradable synthetic filler is a stimulator, which means that it stimulates your body’s natural production of collagen. Polylactic acid is widely used to fill in laugh lines, plump thin lips and treat deep folds around your nose and mouth.
Unlike other facial fillers, you won’t see immediate results. Improvements become visible gradually over the next few months as new collagen is produced. Most people require three monthly treatments to achieve the desired effect. Each treatment re-stimulates your own collagen. It can take four to six weeks to see the full effect. This is semi-permanent, so you’ll need occasional touch-ups.
KYBELLA® is the only FDA-approved injectable treatment for adults that destroys fat cells to gradually improve the appearance and profile of moderate to severe fat below the chin (submental fat), also called “double chin.”
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.
Resilient Hyaluronic Acid (HA) fillers make up the RHA® Collection, the only line of FDA-approved HA fillers for dynamic lines, wrinkles, and folds.
The collection represents the latest advancement in HA technology in more than a decade and offers four HA-filler formulations. RHA Redensity™ is a weightless filler that smooths delicate lipstick lines. RHA® 2 and RHA® 3 offer elegant and refined smoothing for those seeking a soft, natural look in wrinkles and folds. RHA® 3 also enhances lip fullness and definition. Lastly, RHA® 4 provides natural volume for deeper dynamic wrinkles and folds.
The RHA® Collection is specifically designed for facial dynamics and a natural look at rest and in motion. Areas treated by traditional HA fillers can go back to their original shape after being altered, stretched, bent, or compressed. Fillers need to have a high level of resilience because they are used in dynamic areas of the face, such as around the mouth. With all of the micromovements we make throughout the day like smiling, laughing, and talking, it’s important to have a dynamic filler that can adapt and be resilient to the movements in the face.
The RHA® Collection uses a gentle manufacturing process with minimal chemical modifications to the initial composition. This helps preserve the structure of HA, helping it more closely resemble the natural HA found in the skin. The RHA® Collection is the latest advancement in HA-filler technology—purposely designed to treat dynamic areas of the face.

Referred to as “liposuction in a syringe”, KYBELLA is a breakthrough treatment for men and women who wish to treat the fat that causes a double chin.
KYBELLA® injection is the first and only FDA-approved injectable treatment that contours and improves the appearance of submental fullness, sometimes referred to as “double chin”. KYBELLA® is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat.

Injectable Dermal Filler FAQs?
We only employ licensed medical professionals that work directly under a physician.
Injectable dermal fillers are approved treatments that temporarily add volume to certain areas of the face, including the cheeks, lips, or nasolabial folds.
Neurotoxins or neuromodulators help reduce frown, forehead, and crow’s feet lines in the upper region of the face. Fillers add volume to help soften and smooth wrinkles and folds in the lower regions of the face.
During your appointment, providers often assess both your upper and lower face when making treatment recommendations. Neurotoxin and filler treatments can be part of a full, tailored plan to help you achieve your desired results.
Aesthetic neurotoxins can help temporarily improve the appearance of moderate to severe lines in certain areas of the face such as moderate to severe forehead lines, frown lines, and crow’s feet in adults.
Dermal fillers can be used to treat many of the wrinkles you might notice on your face, including nasolabial folds (the lines that go from the edge of the nose to the corner of the mouth), crow’s feet, frown lines, lip lines, and worry lines.
These fillers can also be used to smooth out minor scars, including those caused by acne. They can fill out sunken, sagging cheeks, and add volume to deep bags under the eyes.
They’re also commonly used to infuse some volume into thin lips, giving patients a lovely plump pout!
Injectable dermal fillers are made from a range of different substances, but the primary ingredient in most injectable fillers is hyaluronic acid, a water-loving molecule found naturally in the skin. A modified form of HA serves as the backbone of many clear, colorless, gel-like injectable fillers, which are injected under the skin to add volume to areas such as cheeks, lips, and facial wrinkles and folds.
The results of soft tissue augmentation using dermal fillers are apparent immediately and will last from several months to several years depending on the filler used and the patient injected. Maintaining good overall health and maintaining healthy and strong skin with appropriate products and skin treatments will improve the results and longevity.
This treatment offers incredibly authentic-looking results. The consistency of the gel makes its skin’s fullness look natural and the contouring seamless. The idea is people won’t be able to tell that you’ve had injections if you don’t want them to know, but they’ll definitely notice the gorgeous results!
Because it’s working on the skin from the inside out, it also feels incredibly natural and soft. Patients find that generally there’s no tightness or artificial feeling on the skin’s surface.
Patients won’t see the ultimate results of their treatment immediately as fillers can take several weeks to soften and settle into the skin. Also, the results improve further over time as fillers stimulate your body’s production of collagen and elastin. Even as the hyaluronic acid is processed by your body, healthy collagen and elastin grow at a more significant rate. Thus the final results of treatment won’t be seen for several weeks.
There’s little to no downtime needed following this treatment. You can go straight back to your day, and even drive yourself home or to work! This is why many people choose this treatment.
Patients are, however, encouraged to avoid strenuous activity and direct sunlight or heat on the treated area for the first 24 hours following treatment. The affected area will be slightly more sensitive to these things during this time. Likewise, alcohol should not be consumed in this window, as it can affect the bloodstream.
This treatment works best when results are maintained. Obviously, this is completely up to the individual, but most patients are so happy with their results that they continue getting this treatment. Some early studies even indicate that repeated sessions can improve the skin’s form, so the advantages of treatment go beyond just physical maintenance.
When you start to notice results fading, you’re welcome to come back in for another session. Some patients will even opt to have a mini treatment session in between regular appointments. Many patients appreciate that they can alter their treatments as needed, whether that means targeting new problem areas or adjusting the amount of filler used.
If you’re trying to achieve a more youthful, natural look, then this treatment may be right for you. Commonly, candidates are looking to soften wrinkles, fill out sagging cheeks, or pump up their lips. Since wrinkles can be caused by factors beyond age, and thin lips could be something you were born with, patients don’t always fit into one particular demographic. This treatment is great for men as well as women – after all, wrinkles affect all genders!
Because HA occurs naturally within the body and is very safe, this treatment is suitable for a wide range of candidates. Although we’ll review your medical history, patients generally don’t need to worry too much about things like allergies.
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding may not be eligible for treatment. We’ll be happy to talk through alternatives or plan treatments for the future during a consultation.
IV therapy is generally safe, but potential side effects can include bruising and swelling at the injection site, redness and tenderness, lumpiness and unevenness, vascular complications if the dermal filler is mistakenly injected into a blood vessel as well as infection and allergic reactions. Almost all of these potential issues can be avoided by simply locating a licensed and certified injector.
